Range Safety Rules
- Stay behind the designated range line unless the RSO or LCO has given you permission to put your rocket on a pad.
- Only A-M Tripoli and NAR certified motors bearing the California Fire Marshall's seal may be used.
- Pay attention at all times. Every launch is potentially hazardous.
- If a "Heads Up" launch is announced you must be standing and facing the launch pad. Be alert when a "Heads Up!" is called and be ready to move. Make sure children are paying attention.
- Do not use cell phones or radios beyond the range line.
- Do not insert ignitors into rocket motors larger than G until your rocket is on the pad.
When using electronics, make sure the current cannot flow to the ejection charge(s) and everything is in a safe condition until it is on a pad.
- All rockets must be inspected by a RSO.
- Always angle launch rods away from the crowd.
- Flyers using radio control devices must check with the RSO / LCO for frequency verification.
- Do not push the ignition button until the LCO signals you to do so. Make sure you are pushing the button for your rocket; please don't launch someone else's rocket.
- Do not retrieve a rocket from the range unless the LCO has given you permission.
- Do not touch someone else's rocket unless they give you permission.
- Do not smoke near anyone prepping a rocket (especially high power) or near vendors who sell rocket motors.
- All electronic recovery devices must be safed/powered off until the rocket is placed on the launch pad.
- Do not catch rockets out of the air.
- If you find a model rocket look around for the owner. If the owner is not in sight bring the rocket to the RSO table. All found rockets and rocket parts will be kept at the RSO table.
- If you find a high power rocket, do not touch it since there may be unfired ejection charges.
- Promptly notify Security or the RSO about the rocket's whereabouts.
- When using an ATV or motorcycle, drive responsibly and do not exceed (5) Mph (Or A Walking Pace) when around the Camping Area, Sides Of Range, Or People.
- Consumption of alcohol while rockets are being launched is not acceptable.
- Keep children under control and monitored. Make sure children understand the safety rules.
- Keep all pets on a leash.
- Carry plenty of water when retrieving rockets in the desert. Let someone know you are out chasing a rocket and if possible take a two-way radio along.
